What is a Balanced Body Session?

Balanced Body Sessions are a gentle, therapeutic form of bodywork that helps the body heal itself through comfortable positioning, light touch, and subtle movement. It is especially effective for relieving pain, improving posture, and supporting recovery from injury or stress.

It blends principles of osteopathy with a deep respect for the body’s natural self-correcting abilities and integration of the nervous system.

Unlike traditional massage or chiropractic adjustments, Sessions don’t force the body into alignment. Instead, a practitioner gently positions the body in ways that allow it to relax and “reset” on its own. These positions often mirror patterns of tension or imbalance—inviting the nervous system to release pain and holding patterns safely and effectively.

What does a session look like?

Consultation: Your practitioner will start with a brief chat about your needs, physical concerns, and goals. This helps them understand your unique patterns of tension, pain, or imbalance.

Fully Clothed Bodywork: You'll remain fully clothed throughout the session, usually lying on a massage table. Loose, comfortable clothing (like yoga pants and a t-shirt) is ideal.

Gentle Positioning & Movement: The practitioner uses gentle movements, light compression, and subtle positioning to guide your body into positions of comfort. Movements are slow, non-invasive, and always within your comfort zone. There may be moments of stillness, where your body is simply supported in a position that allows it to unwind. Many people feel very relaxed, warm, or even sleepy during the session. You might notice your body letting go of tension or pain without effort. Changes can be subtle at first, but often lead to lasting relief and better alignment.

Aftercare & Self-Care: Before you leave, your practitioner may offer gentle self-care movements or awareness practices you can do at home to support your healing.
